National Agricultural Show in South West France
The development of all the agricultural sectors of the Pyrenean chain
Initiated by local cattle breeders, the “Agriculture and Forest Festival” saw its first edition in 1988.
Of modest proportions at the beginning, the event, at the time very professional, occurred every year, in a cattle hall, on the territory of Saint-Gaudinois, sometimes in a commune, sometimes in another.
Given the success of this show, the organizers decided to give it a new dimension. This is how "Les Pyrénéennes" officially saw the light of day in 1991. This new scope is expressed both in terms of targets - it is no longer just a question of addressing actors in the agricultural world but also to the general public - but also in terms of outreach. The Pyrenees thus take on real national and international importance and take place in Saint-Gaudens at the Parc de la Hitère.
In 1994, the first national competition for the Blonde d'Aquitaine breed was organized within the "Pyreneennes", helping to give the show a new dynamic, the principle being to create a real synergy around the rural world. The growth crisis continues and to accommodate an event that continues to grow, the meeting now takes place at the Parc des Expositions du Comminges in Villeneuve de Rivière on an area of 35 hectares.
Today, Les Pyrénéennes is one of the most important agricultural fairs at the national level and takes place every 3 years at the Parc des Expositions du Comminges in Villeneuve de Rivière.
Organized by the Community of Communes Coeur & Coteaux du Comminges, with the support of a large number of public and private partners, it allows highlight the agricultural sectors of the entire Franco-Spanish Pyrenees chain and promote the meeting between the agricultural world and the general public.
While continuing the path initiated by breeders and their agricultural competitions, this 2021 edition will be organized around themes related to the agriculture of tomorrow.
